About Us
BN Kirk (Natal) cc, situated in Congella Durban was established in 1970 as Brian Kirk & Company, by Consulting Chemist Mr B. N. Kirk. who was previously Principal Chemist of the City Engineer's Department, Durban. Our Laboratory was established in 1971 to carry out Routine Water and Sewage Analysis for Monitoring and Operation of Water and Sewage Works. In 1994 the Company changed its name to B N Kirk (Natal) cc and was then registered as a Closed Corporation.
Our extensive client base includes Municipalities, Health Boards, Government Departments, Semi-Government Organisations, various Consulting Practices, Industrial Companies, Plant Contractors, Property Developers, Commercial Firms and also Private Individuals. B N Kirk (Natal) cc has been granted SANAS 17025 accreditation (T0535). We are registered on the Department of Water Affairs Blue and Green Drop Systems as a Testing Laboratory, and undertake various projects for clients needing to comply with the National Water Act for both Potable and Waste Water.
Our Service offers Monitoring of Treatment Processes, Sample Abstraction, delivery to our Durban based Laboratory, interpretation of analysed samples, and reporting of findings to Clients and Authorities. Ethekweni Municipality has established a Green Droplet approach to privately owned Waste Water Treatment facilities, and undertake routine monitoring of these plants to ensure compliance with DWA (Department of Water Affairs) guidelines. In doing so Ethekweni Municipality has control over discharging of effluent into their sewer systems or storm water outlets.
Our Team
Mrs. Dawn Bester – Managing Member
Holds a National Diploma and is responsible for Financial and Technical Laboratory Operation including client liaison. Effective staff management and alignment with SANAS 17025 laboratory accreditation requirements, ensuring competitive provision of technical skills in the industry.
Ms. Antoinette Geyser – Laboratory Manager
Holds a Bsc (Hons) Microbiology degree, and is responsible for the overall running of our Chemistry and Microbiology Laboratories. Antoinette has in excess of 20 years’ experience in the Water Industry.
Miss. Owami Makhaye – Chemistry Laboratory Supervisor
Holds an analytical chemistry qualification and is currently furthering her studies by obtaining a BSc in Chemistry and is responsible for overseeing the Chemistry laboratory activities.
Mr. Matthew Bremmer – Marketing and Strategic Development Manager
Joined the company in January 2018 as our Marketing and Strategic Development Manager. He holds a BCom degree in Marketing and is in the process of completing his Masters of Business Administration.
Mr. Nkululeko Nxumalo - Business Development Manager
Nkululeko is responsible for sales and new business acquisition. He holds a Diploma in Human Resources Management, An Advanced Certificate in Public Health management and a National Certificate in Wealth Management.
