Collection of Samples
Collection of water samples for testing at BN Kirk (Natal) cc needs to be done in prescribed sample bottles. These are readily available from our Sample Receptionist at no charge
Chemistry Samples:
Water samples need to be collected in clean 2 litre plastic bottles.
These bottles should be rinsed out with the water sample being collected, at least 2 or 3 times, before filling up to the mouth of the bottle, and then capping securely.
Microbiological Samples:
These must be collected in sterilized 200 ml sample bottles that are available from our Laboratory at no cost - provided samples are tested in our Microbiology Laboratory. Samples must be kept cool during transit (not frozen) and should reach the laboratory within 8 hours of sampling, (maximum time 24 hrs from collection of sample), to perform the required tests.
Legionella Samples:
120ml of sample is required which must be collected directly into pre-sterilized plastic sample bottles that are available from our Laboratory at no cost - provided samples are tested in our Legionella Laboratory. Samples must be kept cool. Analysis must be done within 24 hrs of sample being collected.
Please note that special sample bottles are required for Soap, Oil & Grease and Sulphide samples. Kindly inform our Sample Receptionist of the testing required so that the correct bottles can be utilised.
